Suffolk Age UK

Tackling loneliness

We are writing to remind you that Suffolk Age UK still operates a telephone befriending service across the county. We would very much appreciate your support in spreading the word - with your help we can support more older people.

The service is free and connects older people with volunteers who will telephone them on a regular basis for a friendly chat. The aim of the service is to reduce social isolation and to help make life more fulfilling. We will try to match people with a befriender who shares similar interests.

We can offer this service to people in Suffolk over the age of 60 who are feeling a little lonely or isolated and would enjoy someone to talk to. Unfortunately we cannot support people with a diagnosis of dementia or complex mental health needs.

Referrals can be made by the person themselves or by anyone on their behalf.

If you require any further information regarding the befriending scheme or wish to make a referral then our contact details are as follows:-
